The Certified PostgreSQL Database Migration Specialist (CPDMS) program is an advanced, hands-on training designed for professionals who lead and execute mission-critical database migrations to PostgreSQL.

This is not a tool-focused course. CPDMS is built around the real-world realities of enterprise database modernization—where decisions carry risk, downtime is costly, and migrations must be done right the first time. The program equips participants with the skills to plan, architect, execute, validate, and optimize complex migrations from legacy and commercial databases to PostgreSQL with confidence.

The course is vendor-neutral, deeply practical, and based on proven migration patterns used in enterprise, government, and cloud environments. Participants work through realistic migration scenarios involving Oracle, SQL Server, and legacy platforms, gaining hands-on experience that translates directly to production projects.

Why CPDMS Matters

As organizations modernize away from expensive and restrictive legacy databases, PostgreSQL has become the platform of choice. However, successful migration requires expertise beyond tooling—it requires strategy, judgment, and hands-on execution experience.

CPDMS validates that you can:

  • Lead complex PostgreSQL migration projects end to end
  • Reduce migration risk, downtime, and performance issues
  • Deliver stable, optimized PostgreSQL environments post-migration
  • Serve as a trusted technical leader for modernization initiatives

This certification positions you as a PostgreSQL migration specialist, capable of guiding high-stakes database transitions with confidence and credibility.

Objectives:

Module 1: PostgreSQL Migration Landscape

Objective: Understand why enterprises migrate to PostgreSQL, common migration challenges, and key success factors.

Module 2: Migration Methodologies & Strategies

Objective: Learn to design appropriate migration strategies, downtime models, and risk mitigation plans.

Module 3: PostgreSQL Architecture for Migrators

Objective: Gain insight into PostgreSQL internals and architectural differences relevant to migration scenarios.

Module 4: Migration Assessment & Discovery

Objective: Assess schemas, data, dependencies, and risks to accurately scope and plan migrations.

Module 5: Migration Tooling Ecosystem (Vendor-Neutral)

Objective: Evaluate and select the right migration tools based on use case and complexity.

Module 6: Oracle to PostgreSQL Migration – Deep Dive

Objective: Perform detailed schema and structural migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

Module 7: Oracle PL/SQL to PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL

Objective: Convert, refactor, and optimize Oracle procedural code for PostgreSQL.

Module 8: Oracle Data Migration Techniques
